20,000 Children's Books To Jamaica!
BookSmiles partnered with the Bridgeview Foundation in the spring of 2023. Bridgeview Foundation Executive Director, Shamma Dickens-Phillips, met with Larry Abrams, Executive Director of BookSmiles. Both individuals discussed their desire to assist Woodford Primary & Infant and Grove Primary and Infant School in Jamaica and establish their resource centers. The first shipment of children's books was May 2023, totaling 10,000 books! The books were well received and Shamma reached back out to BookSmiles this fall to coordinate another shipment of children's books. On November 29, 2023 Shamma coordinated and funded the export of 20,000 books to her native Jamaica.
