Volunteer with BookSmiles and Help Put Books into the Hands of Children!
Every book that leaves our warehouse starts with a volunteer. By spending just a few hours sorting and organizing donated books, you'll help provide children, teachers, librarians, and caregivers with access to the books they need to build literacy, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading.
Whether you're a lifelong book lover, a community volunteer, a student needing service hours, or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, we'd love to have you join us.
Because of our incredible volunteer community, we distribute thousands of books each week to children across our region.
Student Volunteers & Service Projects
We welcome students, scouts, and youth groups looking to make a difference in their communities.
**Children ages 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Large Group Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for a team-building activity or community service project?
We host group sorting sessions for organizations, schools, businesses, clubs, and community groups of up to 20 volunteers.
To schedule a group volunteer experience, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Rochelle Smith, at [email protected].
Before You Arrive
Our volunteer sessions take place in a working warehouse. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Thank you for helping us create more smiles, one book at a time.

Our volunteer sessions take place in a working warehouse. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Wear closed-toe shoes for safety.
- Expect a little dust. You'll be handling donated books, so your hands may get a bit dirty. Disposable gloves are available.
- Dress for the season. The warehouse can be warm to hot in the summer and cool in the winter. While we have fans, the warehouse is not air-conditioned.
- Most importantly, come ready to have fun and make an impact!
Thank you for helping us create more smiles, one book at a time.
