We enjoyed an incredibly beautiful day yesterday in more ways than one. Mr. Egan has been coordinating a day-of-service-trash-pick-up time for many years, and yesterday was my first ever! Track team members and others who needed public service hours spent time after school filling trash bags with dry and slimy garbage, doing a great job beautifying our school grounds!
And speaking of community service... A friend of mine who teaches at the Marlton school district donated a couple dozen boxes of books for my Lindenwold Literacy Initiative. They have books drives from time-to-time. After the trash pick-up, a few volunteers sorted the books into age-appropriate piles. As I stood on the corner of Egg Harbor and Gibbsboro Roads, it hit me! I saw dozens of little ones walking home to the apartments with their parents. What if I had a group of students intercepting them, and enabling them to choose books? Kids enthusiastically "selling" the product could be the ticket! Do you have ideas about how I can distribute more books? I already have something going with Braylin's Barber Shop down the street! Boys come for a haircut, and they get books!
