I think all the time about how I can fulfill my dream of putting books into the hands of young children in Lindenwold, even the babies. All children deserve a library of their own! I've also heard a lot over the last few years about making Lindenwold into a community school. My senior project topic will make it happen.
I decided to distribute books to the little ones during intermission during the Thursday performance of Little Shop of Horrors. I loaded up the book cart and wheeled it out. The kids didn't exactly pile onto the cart; I had to encourage them. One dad asked if I had any books about dinosaurs. CHECK! A little girl, Jackie Lopez's sister, asked I had anything about princesses! CHECK! It was like magic! The books were right there! I recruited a handful of my freshmen to pass the books out because I couldn't be there this weekend! A big shout out goes to Aniston Rogers, Chris Camacho, Vanessa Macias, and Adryah-ky Hassan for supervising the cart, and helping kids select the books. I was told that many older brothers and sisters found something nice for younger siblings! Imagine making this an on-going thing! Whenever children come to our school, they will get a bag of books! What if this were to catch on, and other schools start doing it?
